Hurghada is the Red Sea top destination for wind and kitesurf, and recently is also picking up as a great wake-boarding destination. Windsurfers were coming here before there was an international airport. Nowadays it is a well established resort for windsurfers, divers and sun worshippers with the airport only 10 minutes away, and a wide range of board sports schools are to be found in town.
Hurghada offers wind throughout the year, with some of the best in the summer. The wind in the Red Sea is created by the difference in temperature between the land and sea. In Hurghada this is accelerated by the mountain range and by Giftun Island offshore. It will generally pick up during the day and can often start early and sometimes blow all day. This, in addition to the coast which is generally flat and without fringing reefs, creates perfect conditions both for wind and kite surfing. Many international competitions are held in Hurghada every year – one of the most populars being the fun-filled Splash Cup at Tommy Friedl’s centre, who also organises great kite safaris to the deep south, seeking the ultimate perfect kite beach in pure wilderness.
Hurghada, with its over 40km of accessible beaches, is a great snorkelling/ scuba diving destination. Hurghada’s coast is mostly about sandy beaches, but some resorts have their own house reef, with nice corals just on your doorstep.
Here are some of the nicest spots for snorkelling/ diving in Hurghada:
Giftun Island National Park. The island has currently two operations, with restaurant, bar, toilets, beach volley and fresh water. The day is spent on the dazzling white sandy beaches and snorkelling on their coral heads scattered in the shallow lagoons. An hour away by boat, all hotels and diving or aquacentres offer a day excursion to this paradise.
Sharm el Naga Beach, some 20km south of Hurghada, is a very pretty bay with a top class fringing reef and easy access to the corals, with all necessary facilities - snorkelling equipment can be rented there as well.
Private beaches with entry fee such as Old Vic, next to the Marriott, the Papa’s Beach Club and Liquid Lounge in Sekala, are nice places to spend a day and do some relaxed snorkelling.
Titanic aqua park and resort are located in Hurghada on the second line of the beach in front of our other properties Ali Baba Palace, Aladdin Beach and Jasmine Village. Only 8 km south of the airport and 17 km from the center on Hurghada
The attractions inside the park are impressive and promise giving a good time both to external and to in-house guests. Yes because the aqua park is part of a new four-star 200 rooms resort, just 8 km south from Hurghada airport in front of beach front hotel Ali Baba palace.
Open from 10am until sunset, the park offers a wave pool, a rafting river, twister slides, flying boat slide, free-fall slide, body slide, rafting slide, a family rafting slide, an aqua tower, even a Tsunami slide! In addition to many many more slides and water games
El Gouna’s 18-hole championship course is just 30 kilometres from Hurghada airport and 35 kilometres from the city centre boasts year-round golfing in a setting where players can feast their eyes on stunning views of mountains and endless water as the course challenges the strength, ingenuity, and skill of novice and professional alike.
Without doubt quad biking can be one of the most exciting things you can do on four wheels. Jump in the drivers seat, strap yourself in, and off you go. These vehicles are just itching to take down steep bumpy slopes and up rocky dirt trails. You will receive a brief training session on how to operate the bikes, and once all the boring stuff is over with, away you go!
Other activities that may be of intrest include:
Go Karting
Bowling
Underwater Submarine (Located at the sinbad aqua park)
Massages, Spas, Jaccuzi and steam baths located at numerous hotels
Hurghada
